BLACKFACE IS NOT A COSTUME: THE VIDEO SPEAKS FOR ITSELF

A video circulating from a Burger King drive-thru in Faribault, Minnesota shows a white employee wearing blackface while working on Halloween.

The video was shared by a Black customer who questioned the employee about the makeup. According to reporting by Hollywood Unlocked, the employee said she was “just Black today” and, when asked why, responded that she “just wanted to be Black.” The exchange then turned to whether she understood the struggles Black people experience.

REAL B MOMENT

Look — appreciating Black culture is one thing. Putting on Blackface because you want to “be Black” for a day is something else entirely.

And Halloween does not erase the history attached to it.

That is the part worth sitting with.
