MÝA IS COMING TO HOUSTON: DISCOVERY GREEN GETS AN R&B ICON

Houston, get ready. Mýa is scheduled to perform at Discovery Green on Thursday, November 5, 2026, as part of the Blavity House Party Block Party during AFROTECH week.

The lineup also includes Sisqó, with DJs and live entertainment built around the event’s throwback-heavy R&B and hip-hop energy. Blavity describes the block party as its third year of bringing community, music and nostalgia together during AFROTECH.

WHY MÝA?

Mýa has been working across music, film, dance and performance for more than 25 years. Her catalog includes “Case of the Ex,” “My Love Is Like…Wo,” “Ghetto Supastar” and the Grammy-winning “Lady Marmalade.” In 2026, she also released RETROSPECT, while marking 25 years since Fear of Flying.

And this is more than a random Houston stop. It lands during AFROTECH week, when the city is packed with Black technology, business, culture and entertainment programming. Blavity’s House Party Block Party is designed as the musical, social side of that week—and Mýa and Sisqó bring exactly the kind of nostalgia the event is advertising.

If you’re already downtown for the block party, Blavity’s separate House Party R&B Edition Part II is listed later that evening from 6–10 p.m. at 3315 Milam Street. That’s a different event, so don’t confuse the two.
