Remembering Mama Wes: A Rare Gem Moment

In life, you get a few opportunities that you know are special while you’re living them.

This was one of those moments.

I had the opportunity to sit down and interview Weslyn “Mama Wes” Monroe, the mother of one of the greatest Texas legends of all time, Pimp C.

And let me tell you — this wasn’t just another interview.

Mama Wes gave me some of the most sound advice that I will always hold with me. Sometimes you meet people who leave you with something far more valuable than a story. They leave you with wisdom.

She was Pimp C’s mother, but in that moment, I wasn’t just sitting across from the mother of a legendary artist. I was sitting across from a woman with experiences, lessons and perspective that went far beyond music.

That’s what makes this interview such a rare gem for me.

Years later, Mama Wes is no longer here with us, but her voice, her words and the wisdom she shared still are.

So I’m putting this one where it belongs — in the REAL B archives.

Not just for the music.

Not just for Pimp C.

But for Mama Wes.

A mother. A woman. A voice from Texas history. And someone who gave me advice I’ll carry with me forever.

Rest peacefully, Mama Wes. 🕊️
