POLK COUNTY, Fla. — A massive seven-day undercover operation targeting adults seeking illegal sexual contact with minors and suspected human trafficking activity ended with 281 arrests and 488 new criminal charges, Florida authorities announced.
The operation, called “Polk Around and Find Out II,” was described by Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd as the largest undercover operation in the department’s history. Investigators ran two operations at the same time: one targeting adults attempting to meet minors and another focused on prostitution and human trafficking.
13 Disney Workers and 4 Universal Workers Arrested
Among those arrested were 17 theme-park employees: 13 who worked for Walt Disney World and four who worked for Universal Studios. Authorities said seven of those theme-park workers were arrested in the child-predator investigation.
Authorities also identified a youth football coach, an active-duty Navy sailor and an Orange County sheriff’s deputy among those arrested during the operation.
Former Disney Performer Among Child-Predator Suspects
One of the arrests highlighted by investigators involved 24-year-old Collin Klaco of Clermont, whom authorities identified as a former Walt Disney World Mickey Mouse character performer. Investigators said Klaco communicated online with an undercover detective posing as the guardian of a 13-year-old and then traveled to the meeting location.
Authorities said Klaco was arrested on multiple charges related to the alleged attempt to meet a minor.
Disney Employee Allegedly Traveled to Meet a Minor
Authorities also highlighted Adam Snyder, 24, of Champions Gate, whom investigators said told them he worked in Toy Story Land at Disney World. According to investigators, Snyder traveled to the undercover location believing he was meeting a minor. Detectives reportedly found part of his Disney uniform and his Disney identification in his vehicle.
Coach and Active-Duty Sailor Also Arrested
Investigators also arrested Rashion Crayton, 31, of Bartow, whom the sheriff’s office identified as a youth football coach. Authorities said he communicated with an undercover detective posing as a minor and traveled to the meeting location.
Another suspect, Dang Thai, 24, was identified as an active-duty Navy machinist mate from Jacksonville. Authorities said Thai traveled to the undercover location after communicating with an undercover detective posing as a minor.
281 Arrests Covered Multiple Investigations
The 281 arrests were not all for the same offenses. Authorities reported 239 arrests connected to prostitution-related offenses, 31 arrests involving suspected child sexual predators and 11 additional arrests. Two of the child-predator suspects were also charged with human trafficking.
The child-predator operation involved adults who investigators said traveled into Polk County expecting to meet minors. Authorities said the traveler sting produced 32 arrests, while the sheriff’s office’s detailed breakdown listed 31 child-predator arrests.
11 Potential Human-Trafficking Victims Identified
Investigators also screened 122 people arrested in the prostitution investigation with help from detectives and social-service organizations. Authorities said the screening identified 11 possible human-trafficking victims, who were offered assistance and support services.
24 Firearms Seized
Authorities said 24 firearms were brought to the operation and 32 people were charged with drug possession. Officials also said the people arrested had a combined history of hundreds of prior criminal charges.
Only 40 of the 281 people arrested lived in Polk County. Authorities said the others traveled from elsewhere in Florida, 20 other states and 18 countries.
Why This Investigation Is Drawing Attention
The scale of the operation is significant, but the child-predator arrests are drawing particular attention because investigators say adults traveled into the county expecting to meet minors and instead encountered undercover detectives.
The involvement of employees connected to Disney World and Universal has also put the operation under a national spotlight. Authorities said the theme-park employees arrested in the sweep were fired by their employers.
REAL B will continue following the arrests, court proceedings and any additional information released by investigators.
