The Foundation
A broken desk, a bigger lesson, and a reminder to stop, assess, and fix what really matters.

My standing desk leg came off yesterday while I was moving it.
Everybody was all bent out of shape because all the equipment sitting on it came crashing down.
And honestly?
I wasn’t disappointed in the desk.
I was disappointed in myself.
Because I knew that desk needed some attention.
I had tightened a screw here. Adjusted something there. Made little fixes along the way.
But the one thing that really needed my attention—the foundation—I hadn’t stopped long enough to properly assess and fix.
And now?
It’s not beyond repair.
But look at all the work I’ve created for myself because I didn’t stop and deal with the actual problem when I first noticed it.
And isn’t that something we do sometimes?
We fix what’s making noise. We tighten the obvious screw. We adjust the little things. We keep moving.
Meanwhile, the foundation is telling us, “Girl… I’m the part you need to be paying attention to.”
Sometimes the answer isn’t to work harder.
Sometimes it’s to stop.
Look at what’s holding everything up.
Fix that.
Because eventually, something is going to fall.
Food for thought today.
